    Rotowire

Fraley went 2-for-2 with a double, a stolen base and a walk in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Astros.

Fraley reached base three times in a game for the first time since July 24 in the win over Houston. Fraley picked up his 19th steal of the season, and for the first time in his career he has a steal in three straight games. The 29-year-old is now one steal away from his second consecutive season of 20 or more swipes. He's hitting a respectable .275/.329/.383 for the year but is lacking in the power department with just four homers.

France hit his 12th home run of the year, matching last season's total in 37 fewer games. • Reds' Alexis Diaz: Grabs 25th save

    Rotowire

Diaz picked up the save Thursday against Houston, striking out one without allowing any hits or walks.

Diaz pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his first save since Aug. 13, ending a streak of eight straight appearances without a save. The 27-year-old pitched to a 7.36 ERA over those prior eight outings, but he's now pitched clean innings in back-to-back appearances. With his 25th save of the season, Diaz becomes the sixth reliever with 25 or more saves in each of the last two seasons.

  • Reds' Rhett Lowder: Impressive in no-decision

    Rotowire

Lowder did not factor into the decision Thursday against Houston, allowing four hits and four walks over 6.1 scoreless innings. He struck out three.

Lowder got through the first six innings clean before getting into trouble in the seventh but got bailed out by his bullpen. The 22-year-old picked up his first quality in his second career start. Lowder has thrown 10.1 innings and allowed just one earned run over his first two career starts. He's the second Reds pitcher over the last 20 seasons with 10 or more innings and no more than one earned run over his first two career starts.

  • Reds' Austin Wynns: Rehab assignment scheduled

    Rotowire

Wynns (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Sept. 17, MLB.com reports.

Wynns suffered a right teres major tear but was recently cleared to throw to bases. He is on the 60-day injured list and not eligible to return until Sept. 27, two days before the end of the season. While it's possible he could make a late-season return, it wouldn't seem to be a given that he's added to the Reds' roster.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Yet to resume baseball activities

    Rotowire

Candelario (toe) has yet to resume baseball activities, MLB.com reports.

Candelario is almost three weeks removed from suffering a fractured left great toe and remains limited to rehabilitation work due to lingering discomfort. It shouldn't take long for him to become game-ready once the soreness subsides, but it's not clear when/if that might happen before the end of the season.

  • Reds' Andrew Abbott: Begins throwing program

    Rotowire

Abbott (shoulder) began a throwing program Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Abbott was shut down for nearly two weeks with a left shoulder strain but has been cleared to ramp things back up again. It's going to take him a while to be built back up to start a game for the Reds, but the hope is that he can make it back before the end of the season. Abbott has collected a 3.72 ERA and 114:52 K:BB over 138 innings covering 25 starts for Cincinnati in 2024.

    Rotowire

Gibaut has been out all of this season following forearm surgery and more recently a calf strain. He will need a handful of rehab outings given how much time he's missed, but a return later this month is doable if he can avoid another setback.

  • Reds' Matt McLain: Resuming baseball activities

    Rotowire

McLain (shoulder/rib) is pain-free and has been cleared to resume baseball activities, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

McLain's surgically repaired left shoulder no longer appears to be an issue, and he also appears to be past the more recent stress reaction in his rib cage. The Reds have not ruled out a late-season return for McLain, but they'll wait to see how he responds to workouts.

  • Reds' Hunter Greene: Slated for bullpen session

    Rotowire

Greene (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

It would appear to be the first time he's thrown off a mound since he went down with right elbow inflammation in mid-August. As long as Greene gets through Thursday's bullpen session with no hiccups, he will have another one Sunday. The righty will continue to be built back up as he aims to rejoin the Reds' rotation before the end of the season, but he would appear to still be at least a couple weeks away.

He doubled and scored the Reds' second run, then singled home the sixth and seventh runs, and finished with his 62nd steal and scored the team's ninth run. De La Cruz has multiple hits in five of the last 11 contests, during which he's 15-for-47 (.319) with five doubles, five walks, two steals, seven RBI and 12 runs scored.
