Anti-p*rn activists say Meese is stalling WASHINGTON Anti-p*rnography activists say they are unhappy with delays by Attorney General Edwin Meese 3d and the Justice Department in implementing recommendations called for three months ago by Meese's Commission on p*rnography.

"Mr. Meese is buying time, in essence he is going to follow the wishes of the pro-p*rnography people," said Donald Wildmon, founder of the National Federation for Decency, a group that has successfully pressured thousands of chain stores to drop Playboy and other adult magazines. "The attorney general appears to be dragging his feet," said James Dobson, a former member of the p*rnography commission who has a syndicated daily radio show. Justice Department spokesman Patrick Korten denied that Meese had adopted delaying tactics. The report, issued July 9, calls for a nationwide crackdown on p*rnography depicting sexually violent acts or degrading behavior toward women.

In releasing it in July, Meese called for decisions to be made on implementation "within the course of the next two to four weeks." U.S. and Sweden again appeal for data on Raoul Wallenberg Associated Press WASHINGTON Members of Congress, Interior Secretary Donald P. Hodel and Swedish Ambassador Wilhelm Wachtmeister called on the Soviet Union yesterday to reveal the truth about the fate of anti-Nazi hero Raoul Wallenberg.

In a ceremony in Washington, the officials dedicated a bronze plaque to the memory of Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat who is credited with saving the lives of thousands of Jews during the Holocaust. While on a mercy mission to Hungary in 1944, Wallenberg was taken prisoner by Soviet forces. In 1957, the Soviets said he had died of a heart attack a decade earlier in prison camp, but rumors persisted long afterward that he was still alive. Soviets reportedly seize S. Korean fishing boat Associated Press SEOUL, South South rea and Japan yesterday were trying to verify reports that a Soviet warship had seized a South Korean fishing boat carrying 26 people off southeastern Hokkaido, Japan's northern island.

South Korea does not have diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union. Japan, through its embassy in Moscow, asked the Soviets about the reported seizure, according to a Foreign Ministry official in Tokyo who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The South Korean Fisheries Agency said maritime police reported that the boat, identified as the 295-ton No. 101 Hwadong-ho, was catching cuttlefish Tuesday at a point about 120 nautical miles southeast of Hokkaido when it was approached by a Soviet warship. 50-fold increase in AIDS feared in Britain in 4 years LONDON An AIDS expert said yesterday.

He studied in Warsaw and Berlin before sailing to Philadelphia when he was 15. After more studies, he began to play in cafes and theaters in Pittsburgh. When radio became popular, Rudy Vallee helped him win his first contract. He became a soloist with the Pittsburgh Symphony and went on to conduct orchestras here and abroad. He performed at the White House for Presidents Herbert Hoover, Franklin D.

Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy. Cheryl Crawford, 84, the veteran producer of such Broadway hits as Brigadoon, One Touch of Venus and Sweet Bird of Youth, died Tuesday at New York Hospital in New York City. Her most recent success was Legends, a comedy by James Kirkwood that stars Mary Martin and Carol Channing.

It is in the middle of a long national tour. Miss Crawford produced only plays that she liked. That was the rule she followed in 50 years of working with such diverse shows as Lerner and Lowe's Paint Your Wagon in 1951, Tennessee Williams' Camino Real in 1953 and Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children, starring Anne Bancroft, in 1963. She embarked on her career in 1931, when she and Harold Clurman and Lee Strasberg formed the Group Theater to do plays that had social meaning. Out of the Group Theater came such classics as Waiting for Lefty and Golden Boy.

In 1943, with a successful revival of Porgy and Bess, followed a month later by One Touch of Venus, she established herself as a major Broadway producer. In 1946, Miss Crawford joined Eva Le Gallienne and Margaret Webster in forming the short-lived American Repertory Theater. The following year, she and directors Robert Lewis and Elia Kazan started the Actors Studio. G.
